[glow=orange,2,300]Broncos Season 2 Edition[/glow] "Beat the Raiders."
Since losing a close matchup against Oakland in Week 15, and again in the AFC Wild Card, coach Xo and the Broncos made it their top priority to beat the Raiders heading into Season 2. Their off-season acquisitions supported this decision, trading for DEs Ray Edwards and Darnell Dockett while also converting WR Johnnie Lee Higgins to the light side of the force. DE Ray Edwards was the first acquisition. The Broncos sent a second round pick over to Minnesota in exchange for Edwards. "We are very happy to announce that Mr. Edwards is now a Bronco. He is going to be a vital contributor to improving this defense." coach Xo said. Upon his arrival in Denver, Edwards was quoted saying: "I can't wait to amputate Jason Campbell." Denver next got involved in talks with Arizona about Darnell Dockett. The Broncos went ahead and sent their first-rounder along with next year's second-round pick in exchange for Dockett. Not only is Dockett an extreme pass-rusher, but he is also a force against the run as well. A perfect matchup for Oakland's run game. "I goin'a' feed Campbell's limbs to McFadden!!" Dockett said. In free agency, the Broncos made a big push to acquire WR Johnnie Lee Higgins, signing him on for $5.5 million. Higgins will provide the Broncos some much needed speed on the offensive side of the ball. When asked about the move from rival Oakland to Denver, Higgins said: "Wow man, this place is like heaven compared to Oakland. That place was a dump!!!" After being converted from the dark side, Higgins is ready to take it to his former team. Welcome to Denver Mr. Higgins. Finally, with their third-round pick in the draft, the Broncos selected DT Mario Rabasa out of Emporia State. A top D-II athlete, Rabasa will likely be inserted into the #2 DT spot. Coach Xo believes he has all the tools to be a force on the defensive line for years to come. "From Emporia State to the NFL, it's definitely going to be a change. With his solid mix of power and athleticism, we think he can make that change. We're convinced that Rabasa has what it takes to make it in this league." coach Xo said. Week 7: Broncos vs. Raiders
