Our Mission:
To provide a place for sim-style gamers living on the West Coast (and other late-night players) to play against other gamers with similar schedules.
Why did you start this site?
Personally, I love the concept of online sim-style leagues, but living on the West Coast and being married with three kids, my time to play is limited and doesn't usually occur until at least 8:00 pm pacific time. Considering that is 11:00 pm eastern time, I often have trouble connecting with opponents who have work and other responsibilities that prevent them from playing that late. The concept of competing in a league with others that have similar availability as myself was very appealing to me, and thus my motivation for starting this site.
What are the requirements of joining this site?
Ideally, we are looking for responsible adults who are available to play between the hours of 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm PACIFIC time. Obviously, availability will fluctuate day-to-day and week-to-week, but those times will be considered "prime-time" for the majority of the players on our site.
In addition, we are strictly a site for "sim-style" players. With my limited time on the 360, I am not looking to spend an hour playing against a random guy from the lobby who enjoys blitzing every down, going for it on 4th and 15 from his own 30, etc. In the WCFL, we want to ensure that our members get an authentic, enjoyable gaming experience each time they play another member from the site.
What is this "sim-style" that you keep referring to?
Basically, sim-style can be defined as an attempt to play the game like its real-life counterpart is played. "Sim" refers to simulation - we are trying to simulate what we would see in the NFL. We have rules in place to align the style of play in our games with the NFL; for example, when you can go for it on fourth down, when you can go for 2, when you can onside kick, etc.
We understand this style is not everyone's preference, however it is our preference and what we will look for in all of our league members. The goal is for the rules to be "no-brainers" for the members of our site - their style of play would fit within the league rules and guidelines whether they were in place or not.
